Green YGreck Guides FR

Privacy policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026.

1. Who are we?

The Green YGreck Guides website is a non-commercial site: it is not a business. The ads shown only serve to fund its running costs. Contact: guides@green-ygreck.online. The site runs on PHP. Host: [TO COMPLETE: host's name and address].

2. Browsing without an account

Reading the guides, articles, ISO links, ROMs and archives requires no account. The toolbox tools (password generator, checksum verification, converters…) run entirely in your browser: your files, passwords and inputs are never sent to our servers.

Your browser locally keeps (local storage) your theme, your language, your favourite guides, your flashing checklist and your acknowledgement of the cookie notice. This information stays on your device and is strictly necessary for the service you requested.

3. Creating an account and taking part in the community

If you create an account, we process:

  • your username (public, shown on your messages);
  • your email address (never public): only to verify the account and reset your password;
  • your password, which we never store in clear: only an irreversible hash (Argon2id) is saved;
  • the creation date of the account, used for the 30-day rule (see below);
  • your messages, replies and reactions, which are public;
  • your reports of messages.

Legal basis: performance of the service you request (account and community) and our legitimate interest in protecting the site against abuse.

The 30-day rule. Only accounts whose email address is verified and that were created at least 30 days ago can post, reply, react or report. This rule limits spam and fake accounts.

Security and abuse prevention. To limit repeated login attempts and spam, we use your IP address in a pseudonymised form (keyed hash, not reversible), kept for a few hours at most. Your host may also keep technical connection logs under its own rules.

Anti-bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA). When you create an account, we use Google reCAPTCHA (version 3, invisible, then version 2 with a tick box if needed) to prevent automated sign-ups. Google's scripts are loaded only when you open the sign-up form, and a notice tells you so. Google then analyses data about your device and browsing (IP address, cookies, behaviour) to compute a score; Google acts as data controller for its own purposes (Google's privacy policy and terms). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service against abuse. On our side we only keep the decision (accepted, refused, challenge) and the score, without IP address or token.

Session cookie. If you sign in, a strictly necessary session cookie is placed in your browser to recognise you from one page to the next. It is never created for a simple visitor, is not used for advertising and expires when you sign out or after a period of inactivity. The Android app uses an access token instead of a cookie, which you can revoke at any time from the list of your devices.

Retention. Your account data is kept as long as the account exists. Verification and reset tokens expire quickly and are deleted.

Deletion. You can delete your account at any time from "My account". Your account, messages, replies and reactions are then erased.

Children. The site and its help are open to everyone. Children's use of the Service (account, community, app, advertising cookies) must take place under the supervision and with the agreement of their parents or legal guardians, who can also ask us to delete a child's account at the contact address.

4. Google AdSense advertising

The site funds its hosting through advertising served by Google AdSense. Google's script is loaded on every page as soon as it opens. Google and its partners may then set or read cookies and other identifiers on your device, and collect information such as your IP address, data about your device and browser, and the pages you view, in order to display, limit and measure ads, possibly personalised. Google acts as data controller for these processing operations; we do not control them. Where required, Google may show you its own consent message, in which your choices are recorded.

  • You can adjust or turn off ad personalisation in your Google settings.
  • You can delete or block cookies in your browser, or use an ad blocker: the site remains fully usable.
  • The "Manage cookies" link at the bottom of every page recalls these options.
  • To learn more: how Google uses data from partner sites.

The site contains links to third-party sites (system publishers, open-source projects, manufacturers, archives). The "Web archives" tool queries the Internet Archive's public API from your browser when you use it, which sends the address you enter to that service. These third parties have their own privacy policies.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability of your personal data. To exercise them, write to guides@green-ygreck.online. You can also contact the supervisory authority: in France, the CNIL.

7. Terms of use

Use of the Service is also governed by our terms of use.

8. Changes
